Normally, our fridge is pretty plain - with a couple magnets and pics and probably a "honey-do" list for me, but at this time of the year it is different - it is covered in Christmas cards! There are cards showing folks' latest exotic travels, cards showing how time has grown children and aged us adults, cards with pictures of new family members or expecting family members, some include their furry family members, and some cards have no pictures at all. Some cards include the standard printed note, some with a more personalized hand-written note, and some with a heartfelt letter summing-up what the year meant to their family (and thank you Dave McGrath - we absolutely loved your letter, we love watching your boys grow up, and we appreciate the service you provide our country - you and your family are often in our thoughts and prayers). Whether they're cards from people we hear from once or twice a year, or from people we see everyday - we love them all!
We keep all the cards with kids/babies at the bottom of our fridge so Emerson can "play" with them and share his toys with them. I have to admit, Graham, Chase, Sebastian and Noel get the most shout-outs, and the creases in their cards prove it, but Evie, Addison, Olivia and Natalia aren't far behind. Nonetheless, Emerson loves them all.
As I conclude, our trees and all of our Christmas decorations have been taken down and stored away in their boxes until next Christmas. However, the cards remain on the fridge! Which is great for two reasons: 1) it is a great reminder of all of our amazing friends and family, and 2) it takes up the space for my "honey-do" list!
Happy 2011!!!
